We spent a wonderful, wintery weekend in Harbin. This church was one of the highlights, plus visiting the world famous Ice Sculpture Park and the Snow Sculpture Park. We also went to a Tiger Reserve to spend some time among the beautiful tigers, some lions, leopards, a liger, and a beautiful Siberian tiger.We had to bundle up as it was -17 degrees. We used hand warmers in our gloves and pockets to keep us from frostbite, but still got ice crystals on our eyelashes, etc. It was great fun for two days, but we were happy to fly back to Jinan where it's above freezing! We had a lovely dinner at a Russian restaurant and did a little shopping to pick up a few souvenirs representative of the Russian culture in this city of 4.7 million. We thought we were traveling north to a small community that had a famous Ice Festival each year. We also witnessed swimmers diving into a swimming pool made of ice! Great weekend for us.
